In Lenzie Academy there are usually two blocks of Supported Study for senior phase pupils during the academic year; the first block in the run up to Christmas and the second block between the completion of prelims and the Easter holidays. Each blocks lasts approximately 6 – 8 weeks.
Supported Study sessions cover a variety of areas such as assignment support, assessment preparation and exam revision. All sessions commence at the end of the school day.
Where possible senior phase pupils are issued with a printed booklet prior to the commencement of a new block of sessions. The booklet contains information about how students can access the sessions, the time and place of each session, what each session will cover, how long it will last and which teacher will be running the session. However, during the course of a Supported Study block, further sessions are often added to the programme as departments identify extra topics they wish to cover and information about additional sessions is displayed on the Supported Study notice board in the school. The notice board is located outside the assembly hall.
Please note that the Supported Study timetable is subject to change; pupils should check the notice board regularly for new sessions and amendments.
To register for a session, pupils need to use the sign-up sheets that are displayed in the relevant department the week before the session is due to run. The sign-up sheets work on a first come, first served basis.
It is essential that pupils attend the sessions they sign up for. Pupils who repeatedly fail to attend will not be permitted to sign up to new sessions. Where there is a genuine reason for absence the teacher running the session should be informed as early as possible.
If there is a subject or topic that a pupil would like support with but which doesn’t appear on the timetable they should approach their subject teacher. If a number of pupils desire extra support with the same subject/topic it may be possible to schedule additional sessions subject to staffing.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all senior phase pupils the very best of luck in their preparation for assignments and end of year SQA examinations.
