S6 School Captains – Captains for Session 2025 – 2026

 House Captains
 Fleming House

Kerr McInnes                                           Mary Tompkins

My ambition is to bring back a strong sense of house spirit within Fleming and across all the houses. I want to make sure everyone feels included and has the chance to get involved in house events. Houses should give students a real sense of belonging and pride and I hope to create an atmosphere where this is the case. Through cooperation, enthusiasm and encouragement, I aim to make house events something people genuinely look forward to.

As a joint house captain for Fleming, it is a goal of mine to work effectively and intuitively with my teammates, in order for the school as a whole to feel connected and to create a welcoming atmosphere. I understand that the transition from primary to high school can be daunting, so it is a priority for me to be as approachable as possible to the younger years. I also aim to do this by organising fun activities and competitions for all years that will hopefully help form new and impactful friendships and ties. Thanks to our captaincy team, I have been able to build on my confidence and learn more about how to work constructively within a group setting, which has allowed me to make new friends and gain skills that I will carry into my adult life.

In my role as House Captain, I hope to promote healthy competition between houses as a means of bringing the school together as a community. As part of this, I hope to eliminate any remaining negative effects of the pandemic on the way we work as a school, bringing back previous events and activities that haven’t been held since before 2020. The school has equipped me with a lot of skills I’ll need in my role as well as further in the world of work, something I hope to help provide younger years with. For example, pupils can become a class representative in the Pupil Council from first year, and are then offered various leadership positions throughout their time at school such as S3 Mentors or HFT Ambassadors. The school's extracurricular activities also provide pupils the opportunity to develop their skills, for example the school newspaper club has given me a lot of experience with editing and writing. In my role as the editor, I was able to organise some events for the club which developed my skills of organisation and planning.

My time at Lenzie Academy so far has played a key role in developing my confidence, particularly through the range of leadership opportunities available. I took part in the S3 mentor programme and the same year I chose an elective that allowed me to lead a dance class for a local primary school. These experiences have improved my public speaking skills and helped me become more confident engaging with new people. Inspired by these opportunities I decided to run for a leadership position in S6 and was made one of the House Captains for Mackintosh. In this role, I aim to enhance enthusiasm for the House system and ensure it becomes a more valued part of school life.

As a leader at Lenzie Academy I aspire to be a positive role model for all younger pupils and create a strong sense of school pride and friendly competition between the houses. During my time at Lenzie, I’ve been given many opportunities to improve my confidence and leadership skills and interact with other pupils through school events. I want to amplify this so that our house becomes a tight-knit community where every pupil can grow into confident individuals. I will be committed to motivating my peers and I will welcome any suggestions and feedback on how we can make our house a thriving inclusive environment.

As one of your house captains for Mckay, I am incredibly excited to step into this leadership role. My goal is to boost inter house spirit, organising successful house events and being a positive role model for Lenzie Academy. I want to ensure the House team leaves a positive mark on the school and every student feels they have a sense of belonging to their house. This school has provided me with so much more than just qualifications; it has shaped me as a person, teaching me the value of resilience and provided me the encouragement I needed to pursue my future goals. The support from teachers and the bonds with my peers are things I will carry forward for life, and I look forward to giving back to this community.

Sara McCormack                                       Grace Neil

I am incredibly excited to be taking on the role of House Captain of Inglis this year. My aim is to promote the school’s value of inclusion by encouraging all students to participate and helping to build a truly welcoming and engaged school community where every student feels they belong. Lenzie Academy has done so much for me, not only by providing an excellent education, but also by offering exciting opportunities to challenge myself, such as taking on this role. I’m eager to give back by contributing to a house system that is engaging, inspiring and inclusive throughout the year.
